"Corrosion" is a hands-on exhibit which demonstrates this chemical phenomenon of everyday life which is also of great scientific and economic importance. It touches various areas such as the chemistry of corrosion, metallurgy, corrosion protection and industrial conservation. The exhibit gives examples of different kinds of corrosion (aqueous, dry, biochemical). The visitor also has access to chemical and electrochemical information on corrosion and corrosion protection systems.

The whole exhibit consists of four boxes of 90 x 90 x 70 cm which are covered by a transparent hemispherical "dome". They are connected to 220 V / 50 Hz AC ( the first one every time for to permit long-time measures). Except for the first one, the other three boxes contain a guiding system for an iron tip with a magnet and chains connected to a handle permitting the movement of the iron tip through two or three vessels with liquids.
